Enhancing Worker Safety: Digital In-Field Assessments

At CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM), trainers are responsible for assessing the competence of employees and contractors on-site. Given the challenges of poor or unavailable network connectivity, CPM previously relied on cumbersome paper-based processes for scheduling and conducting these assessments. To modernize and streamline this process, CPM turned to DalRae Solutions. Together, they have fully digitalized the in-field assessment process, equipping trainers with tablets that function offline, ensuring efficiency and accuracy even in remote areas.

The Solution

The new In-Field Assessment Application transforms how trainers conduct assessments by using a tablet app that pre-caches all necessary forms and records for the day. This eliminates the need for paper, allowing trainers to complete and sign electronic forms even without network connectivity. The app stores employee and contractor records locally, supporting ad-hoc assessments and functioning effectively in areas with limited or no connectivity.

When a network connection is available, the application automatically syncs with the SAP SuccessFactors system, ensuring that completed assessments are recorded accurately. This digital solution eliminates the need for paper forms, scanning, filing, and manual record-keeping, revolutionizing the assessment process.

DalRae Solutions has utilized SAP Business Technology Platform’s MDK to address CPM’s unique needs, building on their successful implementations with Transport for NSW and Newcrest. This innovative use of MDK provides offline-capable synchronization and streamlines the entire in-field assessment process.
